Mindarin is a web-based application for learning Chinese characters using the Hanzi Movie Method mnemonic system. The service allows you to:

• Create and manage Chinese character cards
• Track your learning progress using spaced repetition
• Configure custom mnemonic systems (actors, sets, rooms, props)
• Export and import your data

Note: Mindarin is an independent application operated by LD Data and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with Mandarin Blueprint or any other Chinese learning platform.

3. User Accounts

Account Creation

• You must provide a valid email address and create a secure password
• You must be at least 13 years old to create an account
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
• You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account

Account Security

• You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
• We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from unauthorized account access
• We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms

4. Acceptable Use

You Agree To:

• Use Mindarin only for lawful purposes
• Provide accurate and truthful information
• Maintain the security of your account
• Respect intellectual property rights

You Agree NOT To:

• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service or other accounts
• Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the service without permission
• Interfere with or disrupt the service or servers
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the service
• Use the service to transmit malicious code, viruses, or harmful data
• Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation
• Violate any applicable laws or regulations

5. User Content

You retain all ownership rights to the content you create in Mindarin (character cards, notes, configurations, etc.).

Your Responsibilities

• You are solely responsible for the content you create
• You represent that you have the right to create and store such content
• You agree not to create content that is illegal, harmful, or violates others' rights

License to Us

By using Mindarin, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you.

6. Feedback and Suggestions

Mindarin provides a feedback feature that allows you to share your thoughts, suggestions, bug reports, and other feedback about the service.

Feedback Collection

• When you submit feedback, we collect your feedback message, user ID, email address, and the page you were viewing
• Feedback is not anonymous and is associated with your account
• We may use your feedback to improve the service and may contact you for follow-up questions

Rights to Feedback

By submitting feedback, you grant us an unlimited, perpetual, royalty-free license to use, modify, and incorporate your feedback into Mindarin without compensation or attribution. This allows us to implement your suggestions and improvements without legal restrictions.

7. Intellectual Property

The Mindarin service, including its design, code, and documentation, is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

• You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works of the service
• You may not remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices
• You may export your data, but this does not grant rights to the Mindarin platform itself

8. Service Availability

• We strive to maintain service availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access
• We may perform maintenance that temporarily interrupts service
• We reserve the right to modify or discontinue features with reasonable notice
• We are not liable for any loss of data or service interruption

9. Data and Privacy

Your use of Mindarin is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your data. Please review it carefully.

• You can export your data at any time
• You can request account deletion, which will permanently remove your data
• We implement security measures to protect your data, but absolute security cannot be guaranteed

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MINDARIN IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

• We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
• Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service (currently $0 for the free tier)
• Some jurisdictions do not allow exclusion of implied warranties, so these limitations may not apply to you

11. Termination

By You

You may stop using Mindarin at any time by deleting your account through the account settings or by contacting us.

By Us

We may suspend or terminate your account if you:

• Violate these Terms of Service
• Engage in fraudulent or illegal activity
• Abuse the service or other users
• Fail to pay applicable fees (if premium features are added)

Upon termination, your access to the service will cease, and we may delete your account and data after a reasonable retention period.

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of Mindarin after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of Mindarin will be resolved through appropriate legal channels.
